Outpost Intelligent Calls To Action Are Now Dynamic, Too

We just upgraded the Tip Jar, and the Gift Subscription CTA, and the Intelligent CTA Buttons to give you more control over what they say and what they do.

Intelligent Call to Action (CTA) Buttons

Our Intelligent Call to Action buttons have always been smart, being able to show different messages to different kinds of readers, but we just pushed an update to make them even better.

For instance, the button below asks unknown readers to sign up for our free newsletter with the text "Learn More About Outpost", while logged-in free readers get a prompt to "Get Yourself an Outpost" which takes them to going paid. Our paying subscribers don't see any message.

The first version had preset text and actions. Now you have complete control over names displayed on buttons, and can choose from a menu what actions you want the buttons to point to.

These changes are dynamic, meaning if you change the the text and action of a button in your Outpost Control Center, those buttons will automatically change their text and action in all past posts. (Caveat here for existing: this may not apply to all your previous posts right now - depending on your Snippets, but will going forward.)

Outpost's Calls to Action are Intelligent, meaning that they are only displayed to the readers you choose and they show different messages to different levels of readers.

For example, paid readers won't see the same prompts that free or unknown readers do, and Annual subscribers will not see the Upgrade to Annual CTA that shows up for Monthly readers. This makes for a seamless reading experience, providing subtle up-sell opportunities without spamming your readers with irrelevant messages.

Tip Jar Buttons

You can now change the text of your Tip Jar buttons!

Buttons that show up on posts-only are dynamic, and so they will change retroactively when you change their text in the Outpost Button Wizard.

Buttons that are Email-only or Email-and-Posts are not dynamic (blame how email works), so when you create a new one, the previously used versions are not çhanged.

You will need to save the new text, then copy the HTML and create a new Snippet in your editor or overwrite the previous Snippet.

Gift Subscription Buttons

The text of Gift Subscription buttons can also be changed, and post-only buttons inserted in past posts when updated in Outpost Control Center.

As with the Tip Jar, only posts-only buttons are dynamic (meaning changes apply to all previous versions).

Buttons that show up in emails and posts won't change retroactively. For email-only or email+posts CTAs, if you change the text you will also need to add the button to your Ghost editor as a new Snippet, or overwrite the previous one.
