Release 3.2.3: Safe and Precise Landing

Release 3.2.3: Safe and Precise Landing

This is largely about renewal reminders, making sure everyone who should get one does get one. And then a little bit about event links, also making sure everyone who should get one gets one, and those who shouldn't shan't. Plus fixes and improvements to a drone package-size campaign and checkout issues.

Renewal reminders, event links, and some group renewal tweaks

Highlights

๐Ÿ”” Renewal reminders reach everyone who should get one

Renewal reminders to subscribers aren't just the right thing to do; they are legally required in many places. We found a couple of places where these reminders might not be sent out, and did ye olde tightening on them.

๐Ÿ”’ Event links for the people (who registered)

The join link for an online event, such as a Zoom link, could be found on the event page by clever people who hadn't registered. It's now hidden until someone registers. If you haven't added a link, registered attendees see a notice on the event page saying it will appear there before the event starts, and you can edit the wording of that notice. Event emails say the same thing instead of leaving a blank where the link should be.

ADDED  3 items

๐Ÿ” Renewal reminders that failed to send on the set day are now sent the next day
โณ Event pages now have a notice (with wording you can edit) telling registered attendees that the online join link will appear there before the event starts. This happens until you add the join link in the event settings.
๐Ÿ“จ Event emails also now say the join link will be on the event page if you haven't added it yet, instead of leaving a blank spot in the email

CHANGED  4 items

๐Ÿ“ฌ Renewal reminders, card-expiration warnings, and payment receipts go to all members, including those who opted out of promotional email
โœ‰๏ธ Account emails are exempt from the daily sending limit on new sites, so a new site's renewal notices go out no matter what
๐ŸŽŸ๏ธ Free trial offers on the Outpost checkout page are now for new subscribers only, and an existing subscriber clicking on one will instead see a note pointing them to their account settings
๐Ÿ‘ฅ Group subscription members now keep their paid podcast and streaming access for three days after dropping to free, which leaves time for a switch to a different group, insitutional or personal sub without losing privileges in the meantime

FIXED  6 items

๐Ÿ”’ Fixed an event's join link being visible on the event page to people who hadn't registered
๐Ÿ“ฆ Fixed an edge case bug where a reader associated with an old offer could hit an error on the shipping address step of checkout
๐Ÿ”” Fixed renewal reminders not being sent when Outpost couldn't look up the member's plan in Stripe
๐Ÿงพ Fixed the welcome email and new-purchase notice being sent again on every paid invoice (e.g. a renewal) instead of only the first invoice
๐Ÿ’ณ Fixed error where an old discount could stay on a subscription after the member moves to an offer with no discount
๐ŸŽš๏ธ Fixed the campaign On/Off switch staying flipped when the campaign had errors and nothing was saved

IMPROVED  2 items

๐Ÿท๏ธ Now when you launch an event campaigns from an event, the campaign gets autofilled with both a name and a slug (the slug wasn't there before)
๐Ÿ”— Clearer warnings when a campaign or autoresponder email links, in a way that won't work, to a Ghost offer, with steps you can follow in order to fix it
