Ready for some presents?

A member publication put on their wishlist that they wanted to offer a 6-month or 3-month subscription?

We thought that could be really cool.

So we built that and released it today. When you create an offer in Outpost now (using the Outpost offer rather than the Ghost offer option), there are 4 choices: yearly, monthly, 3 months and 6 months.

Outpost Offer Creation now allows 3-Month and 6-Month subscription periods.

But then somebody else put on their wishlist that they wanted someone to sign up for an offer to get 6 months for $15, and then have the subscriber renew on a differnt annual plan. And what if the second offer could have something like a 20% discount for the first year.

We thought that would be cool, too.

So we built Scheduled Subscriptions to let you chain one subscription to another, so that a subscriber renews on a different plan than the one they started with. This is currently a Lab feature.

It lets you set the offers to be very clear to users what the schedule is when they subscribe. As a bonus, it works with Outpost’s usual renewal flow, including notifications when renewal is about to happen and recovery actions if a renewal payment fails.

Well, then someone said, wouldn’t it be great if someone can buy a 6-month gift subscription, because that would be cheaper and likely more popular.

Hard to argue with that, so we built that too.

We also updated the Admin panel in the Autoresponder to make it easier to see what offer was attached to each Action, and to make it easy to create 3-month and 6-month offers.

We’ve been working on an integration with the search provider Alogolia to make it easy to add a full text search to Ghost sites. We built a nice looking search page modal for the full-text search tool Algolia and that beta integration is live for Luna customers. It’s very much beta, FYI.

And since the giving mood was still giving, we also built two new podcast integrations.

One for Supercast that integrates Ghost paid subscriptions with paid podcasts (adding and removing members when appropriate).

Also we made an integration with the Omny FM podcast service, where we automatically create Ghost posts for podcast episodes.

And for the final gift, we gave ourselves a little something: some better ways to work with our internal dashboard of client sites. It’s like the wool socks of presents - it’s not flashy, but hella nice (and very useful).

Hope you like the presents and let us know if you have questions.
