How do Ghost Gift Subscriptions work?

Outpost makes it as simple as can be for Ghost newsletters and sites to offer gift subscriptions, with no work on your end when gift subscriptions start and when they end.

Just the start of the communication around gift subscriptions.

All you need to do is set a gift subscription price and then share the link to the gift subscription page. Gift givers can set the gift subscription to start immediately, or set it to start on a day in the future, such as someone's birthday or Christmas Eve.

Users can easily choose when they want a gift subscription to start and when to notify the recipient.

Doing gift subscriptions on your own is very complicated, and Outpost handles it all:

  • Thank you notes to the gift subscription buyer
  • Notifications when a scheduled gift subscription is sent
  • Notifying the gift recipient and getting them into Ghost as a complimentary subscriber with the correct end date
  • A comprehensive system for handling when gift subscriptions are about to expire, including ways to let the gift giver give again, or to let the gift recipient to pay for their own extension, including with a special price just for gift recipient renewals.

This works seamlessly with Stripe, and both gift givers and gift receivers are labeled in Ghost.

That way you can easily see all the people who have given gift subscriptions, and all the people that have been given gift subscriptions, and if you want you can write either group directly from Ghost.

Stripe makes it seamless! If their info is saved they won't even have to do this step
